Today was another busy day in the First District, as I met with numerous constituents and business leaders. Here are a few of the highlights.
This morning, I toured the Home Depot regional distribution center in Monroe, and discussed with the center's employees issues related to the shipping and transportation industries.
I also held a roundtable discussion with several local small business owners regarding manufacturing, taxes and other issues facing their businesses.
This afternoon, I toured Laser Imaging & Design in Lebanon, and learned how they etch incredibly detailed images into granite.

In addition to visiting numerous small businesses this week, I also met with several constituents and constituent groups throughout the First District. Here are a few of the highlights from a busy week.
Earlier this week, I toured INX International's new facility in Lebanon.
I met with the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and discussed with them legislation that could help those affected by MS.
I visited the Lebanon Correctional Institute.
I had the privilege of meeting a number of folks at Artis Senior Living of Mason.
I also spoke to two groups of small business owners. First, at a seminar hosted by Warren County SBDC.
And then later at the NFIB Cincinnati luncheon.
And I had the honor of presenting a flag to Braeden Knapp, an Eagle Scout and 2015 Walnut Hills graduate, who designed a new flag pole for his alma mater.
Hamilton County Small Business Visits

My August tour of small businesses in the First District continued on Wednesday and Thursday, with stops at several businesses in Hamilton County. Here are a few of the highlights.
On Wednesday morning, I toured MN8 Foxfire, whose CEO, Zach Green, testified before the Small Business Committee in May.
Later, I visited Crown Plastics in Harrison.
And on Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending an awards ceremony at First Batch, one of the only business accelerators in the nation that focuses exclusively on local manufacturing. At the ceremony, the SBA presented First Batch with an accelerator grant to help bolster their work with local startups.
Warren County Small Business Tour

On Tuesday, I kicked off another round of small business visits in Warren County. I really enjoyed meeting everyone today, and I greatly appreciate all the feedback I received from the business owners. Here are a few of the highlights from the tour.
The morning started off with a visit to Natorp's Nursery in Mason.
Next, I met with the folks at Tide Dry Cleaners.
I finished the morning with a tour of the Lindner Center of Hope.
This afternoon, I toured MCM Electronics in Springboro.
And for the final stop on today's tour, I visited Hardy Diagnostics, also in Springboro.

Monday in the First District

Monday was a great kickoff to a busy week. Here are a few of the highlights.
I began the day with a very interesting tour of the UC Medical Center, where I learned about the prospects for, and future of, telemedicine.
Later, I had a great meeting with Cincinnati representatives of the Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA). We discussed a number of issues facing the commercial real estate industry.
And I had the pleasure of meeting with Cindy Hadfield, a small business owner from Lebanon, to discuss patent issues.
Tomorrow, I will be touring a number of small businesses in Warren County. I look forward to hearing from those business owners what we can do in Washington to help them grow and create more jobs for our region.
Around the First District

It was a busy week in the First District. Here are a few of the highlights.
The week started with a ceremony welcoming Sheryl Fairbanks, a Special Olympic gold medal winner, back to Cincinnati. Sheryl is truly an inspiration, and she has been representing our community at the Special Olympics for more than 35 years.
Next, I met with several Cincinnati small business owners to discuss the importance of the 7(a) loan program to their businesses.
I also toured the Wegman Company, and discussed with the company's management and employees some of the regulatory burdens they face everyday.
Later in the week, I had two informative discussions about the Iran deal -- first, with representatives of the Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center, and then with several Cincinnatians representing the National Iranian American Council.
Additionally, I met with several local broadcasters about the issues facing the television and radio industries.
To round out the week, I visited several retirement communities in the district, including: Otterbein's Springboro facility

And Brookdale Long Cove Pointe, also in Mason
At each community, I had the privilege of meeting numerous residents and listening to their thoughts on the issues that are important to them.
Springboro Small Business Tour

I really enjoyed meeting with numerous small business owners in Springboro today and discussing with them the issues that their businesses face everyday. Thank you to the Springboro Chamber for helping to arrange the visits.
Our first stop was Heather's Coffee & Cafe.
Next, I met with Meg Dyer at her insurance agency.
We also stopped by the Springboro Chamber office.
And I had an opportunity to see the embroidery and silk screening work being produced by Image Mark-It / Fanstore.
Next, I met with the folks at Ironwood Phoenix to discuss some of the regulatory challenges facing their business.
And I learned about iStable, a software business aimed at improving communications between horse owners and stable managers.
Finally, I met with the team at Ralph E. Wade Insurance Agency to discuss the issues facing their business.
