Thank You To Our Nation's Veterans

Thank you to all the men and women who serve, and have served, in our nation’s military. Our service members and their families deserve our appreciation, our respect, and our gratitude for the sacrifices they have made, and continue to make, to defend the freedom we hold dear.

And so, as we celebrate Veterans Day, I encourage everyone to thank a veteran, and let them know you appreciate their service.

As the son of a World War II veteran, I understand the sacrifices that families of active duty soldiers and veterans make. And we, as a nation, owe it to them to provide all of the support and assistance we can.

Quite frankly, our government hasn’t done a good enough job, through the Veterans Affairs Administration (VA), of providing veterans with access to the benefits and medical resources that they have earned and they deserve. That’s why I will continue to push for and support legislation to break through the VA’s vast bureaucracy and hold them accountable.

Additionally, I am always striving to both ensure the needs of veterans are taken care of and to find ways to make the transition to civilian life easier and more successful.  For example, as Chairman of the Small Business Committee, I recently led the effort to make it easier for veterans to obtain small business loans, through H.R. 2499, the Veterans Entrepreneurship Act, which was signed into law in July.
