WASHINGTON– House Committee on Small Business Chairman Steve Chabot (R-OH) told members of the House Armed Services Committee that small businesses are vital to America’s national security because they foster competition and innovation, leading to better products and services for the U.S. military.
Chabot urged his colleagues on the panel to incorporate H.R. 4341, the Defending America’s Small Contractors Act, into the Fiscal Year 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Chabot stated the Committee on Small Businessunanimously approvedthis bipartisan measure in January which provides small firms new and improved opportunities to compete for contracts with the Department of Defense while ensuring transparency and accountability in all contracting processes.
Chabot also noted thecollaborationbetween the Small Business and Armed Services Committees which resulted in key contracting reform provisions that were incorporated into the FY 2016 NDAA.
