Chabot Statement on UN Security Council Vote to Strengthen Sanctions on North Korea
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steve Chabot (R-Ohio), senior Member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, on Tuesday released the following statement on the unanimous United Nations Security Council vote to impose new sanctions on North Korea.
"It is a new day at the United Nations. I applaud Ambassador Nikki Haley and the rest of the UN Security Council on a unified message sent to the rogue regime in Pyongyang. The increased sanctions on North Korea not only cut off their economic resources, but also put the Kim regime on notice for their continued nuclear escalation. Their belligerence will not go unchecked."
Also on Tuesday, Chabot participated in the Foreign Affairs hearing entitled “Sanctions, Diplomacy, and Information: Pressuring North Korea” where he commented on the need for sanctions on North Korea. Click here to watch the video of Chabot's comments.
